Do I need an account?

No. Nothing in Reva requires one. The questions, the reading, every pause, the crisis line and Reva Plus all work without signing in.

What does signing in do?

Signing in uses Sign in with Apple, and it does two things. Reva Plus follows the account, so a subscription reaches a new or second phone once you sign in there. And it gives your encrypted backup somewhere to live.

Signing in is also the point at which Reva first contacts Google Firebase, which holds the account. The privacy policy lists everything the account record contains.

Moving to a new phone

Two ways. With an account: sign in on the new phone and paste your backup key. Without an account: on the old phone, go to Settings → Your data → Export everything, move the file across, and restore from it on the new phone. The file needs no account and no key.

I lost my backup key

We cannot get it back. The backup is encrypted on your phone, with a key made on your phone, before it is sent, and all we ever hold is the locked copy. The key is shown to you once so you can copy it. Lose the key and you lose the backup with it.

That is why it is worth exporting a file as well, from Settings → Your data → Export everything. The file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.

Pauses have stopped firing, or blocking isn’t sticking

This is nearly always the Screen Time permission. iOS owns it, not Reva, and it can be switched off without Reva being told first. Open Settings inside Reva: if the permission has gone, there is a button there to ask for it again, and everything you have done so far is still here.

If a blocked app keeps getting deleted and reinstalled to get past its pause, Reva can stop apps being deleted: Settings → Deleting apps → Stop apps being deleted. While it is on, no app on the phone can be deleted, not only the ones you have blocked. It needs the Screen Time permission first, so set blocking up on the Block tab before you turn it on. It is off until you do.

If the phone is managed by someone else’s Screen Time settings — a school device, or a family account — Reva cannot gate apps on it at all. That is a limit of what iOS allows an app to do, and there is no way around it from our side.

Billing, refunds and cancelling

Apple handles all of it, and we never see a card number. The price is shown in the App Store, in your own currency. One week free on the monthly plan, two weeks on the yearly, and both plans renew until you cancel. Cancel in your iPhone’s Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.

Reva cannot issue a refund. Only Apple can, through reportaproblem.apple.com. Write to us anyway if something went wrong; we would rather know.

Getting your data out

Settings → Your data → Export everything. It is free, needs no account, and gives you one file with every answer, every pause, every reading and every step in it. The same file restores on a new phone.

Deleting everything, including your account

Settings → Delete everything. If you signed in, it first revokes Reva’s Sign in with Apple access and deletes the account. The account record is wiped down to a marker holding only its ID, a deleted flag, and the dates it was created and deleted. Your email, your Apple identifiers, your profile, your backup and your purchase IDs are gone. Then it erases everything on the phone, and it turns off the witness link if you set one up.

The phone is erased either way. If it is offline, Reva tells you it could not reach your account, and the account stays until you open Reva online and sign in again, or write to support@reva.otterwright.com.

Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription. Apple bills it, so cancel it in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
